Remember the two SAAB 96-front halves welded together making a car with independent engines and steering for each end?
I just remembered that Citroen did something similar to that for their 4WD version of the 2CV. They just added another engine in the back, completely independent with its own gearbox and fuel tank.
As I sometimes say: you _could_ do that... ;)
It was done with the Mini too, called the Twiny. Made for hill climbs and was a beast to control.
Do you have any pictures of those cars that could be run both ways? Did they actually run? Must have been crazy to see.
This is the internet, there must be pictures somewhere. I am pretty sure Kurt Olsson had one of those stearing-in-each-end cars in a tv-show.
