Not quite yet, they "just" have to find some undamaged mammoth sperm first and breed for 50 years. But it is an interesting project, although perhaps not really necessary.
And, since the mom would be an elephant, it really would be a mammoth-elephant hybrid, even if you breed it for 50 years. Pretty cool anyway!
