Fantastic café at Lake Malaren

Salmon and philadelphia cheese with horse radish.

A swedish traditional meatball sandwich with red beet salad.

This we had at the café at Taxinge slott (castle) the other day, maybe the last day of the summer. At least the last day this summer the kids took a swim. Now it´s too cold, at least in the air.

Namnam!
I learned the other day that Ingmar Bergman's "Cries and Whispers" ("Viskningar och rop") was filmed at Taxinge.

Speaking about beet salad - that is a true connection between Russia and Sweden. I was at a Russian restaurant in Chicago (Russian Tea Room) and they served a beet salad that was very similar to the one on the picture, just with less mayonnaise (= more healthy).

Was the Bergman movie inspired by real ghosts at Taxinge castle?

I don't think Bergman needed to rely on local ghosts, he probably brought his own personal "demons" as ususal. :)

"Fröken Julie" by August Strindberg is said to be inspired by Taxinge castle. And Bergman was in genaral very inspired by Strindberg, who had his "demons" too.
