Ghost boats in Chicago

Some boats aren't really there.

All photos at the harbor in Chicago at Lake Michigan.

Question - do you think all people can recognize what the last photo shows? I know someone that couldn't, and she knows about boats like this...

Everyone should recognize a "puttifrånpåse" when they see one, right? :D

Yes, I love Chicago and you ought to visit, pippi! It has a very different feel than New York, still very urban but more human somehow. Or more life-like?

"puttifrånpåse" = squeeze bag?

I think "puttifrånpåse" means "put-away-on-you" or "put-away-of-you" !?

I suddenly forgot the real word for the squeeze bag - that is what happens when you are being silly for a long time.

So, what O.K. is talking about here, is a 'fender', the white bag-like thing that protects the boat against the pier. But "push-away-bag" sounds better. I wonder why it is called fender and the origin of that word...
