What a cool video, the first seconds reminded me of TV programs in Sweden in the 1970s. So, is there environmental-friendly recycling available? Or is it all shipped to China?

It is available here in Sweden. There are several facilities that recycles all the metals from electronics, such as gold.
At least it is more environmental-friendly compared to that horror-movie...

I think one good thing to do is to buy stuff that lasts. Might sound like an oxymoron when it comes to computers but the servers at home are 14 years old, running day and night. They don't use much power either, 15 W each.

Why not a design where new "guts" could be swapped out so at least the big plastic case is saved?

In that movie did you see how the solder was being re-claimed? Yikes!

I have always wondered if sometime in the future people will mine the landfills for metals and such, when our natural resources are finished or too expensive. Can you imagine digging up the landfills in New Jersey?
