Something organic. A fruit or a seedpod cut open?

Now I know what it is, but not because I could figure it out...

Something you found on the beach - a seashell, or tiny urchin?

It is organic. Not a fruit, not a seashell, not an urchin, and certainly not a newt eye. But all good guesses. Do you want to guess more?

What is "an abnormal outgrowth of plant tissue usually due to insect or mite parasites or fungi and sometimes forming an important source of tannin"?

O.K. already gave you one hint, here is the next: OAK.

OK, all of you. It is a gall made by an insect from an oak leaf in AREAs hands.
