Wonderful news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the next Peace Nobel Prize winner is: OBAMA. YES!!!! First Al Gore for his environmental work, and now Obama, oh, happy days! Here is some eye candy of our president.

He got it for his efforts: "to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples" less than nine months after he took office. The Nobel committee believe in him too! Thank you Norway!

The price is a serious mistake. A price you get after you have accomplished something extraordinary. Not before. Let's hope that he really can live up to this price. Regardless of his personal opinions and wishes he has a congress and a lot of lobbying to get around (or over). The USA is still the USA electing Bush twice. As it looks to me.

I disagree - but I can also understand those that think this prize was given too early in his career. But think about it - just by managing to get elected and then living up to his campaign promises, he has reversed so many of the horrible Bush-policies that was a huge threat to world peace.

PS. The silliest comment I heard was some republicans that complained that he hadn't done something about global warming yet, something the republicans have worked against for decades. I really think the prize should be seen as a prize for changing America and the role of the US in the world.

PS2. Bush was only elected once, the second time he stole the election, and Al Gore should have been president. Al Gore got more votes.

Would you give a promising student a diploma before he or she actually does anything? I know I would not do it, if promising is the criteria I wonder when someone wins an Oscar for best actor with a motivation like that? I like Obama but that does not mean he deserves the price!

I think the issue here is 'if he has done a lot'. I think so, others do not.

Look herefor a list of Obama's accomplishments. JH, have you seen this list? I wouldn't call that doing nothing, but I know that the news in Sweden don't always pick up on the good news from the US.

Considering this, I think he has deserved this price, especially since he has been working to fix 8 years of disaster under Bush and a lot of Americans don't agree with the good things he is trying to do. Now, this does not mean that he should sit back and enjoy the price, not at all, and in fact by giving him the price he will have to work even harder to make Iraq and Afghanistan more peaceful places. It is not an easy job he has...

I also heard that Alfred Nobel's wish was that the price could go to people that show their good intentions of peace in the world, as opposed to having fixed it all already. So you don't have to get it after a conflict is over or a problem is solved, just look at some of the previous winners.

So guys, who do you think should have gotten the price instead?

let me guess..."prize" in Swedish is spelled with a "C"?

PP, no, it is spelled with a 'S'. Pris. Which means both price and prize, in fact :)

PS. Which means I misspelled it too :) It is the Nobel prize, not Nobel price. Oh well :)
