Wikipedia is updated with the latest news, and it doesn't look good for the villages around Merapi (which means Mountain of Fire, appropriate name):

Our friend AP is safe.

I almost lost my life after i took this picture. I have to get out from the ash and gravel rain at Muntilan (20 km from Mt. Merapi).

Dear Renee,
I am so glad you are OK! Can you tell us more about how it was to be so close to the volcano?

Thanks for commenting on our blog too, and thanks for letting us borrow your photo.
