Volcano alert: Grimsvötn
For our readers away from Iceland and Scandinavia, in case you haven't heard:
Large parts of Iceland are covered with ashes from the eruption at Grimsvötn on Iceland. The vulcano is located right under Europe's largest glacier, and once again nature shows its absolute power. The ash cloud is on its way to Scandinavia and southern Europe. (some photos here)

Poor Icelanders. Grimsvötn is pouring out great amounts of ash, fine shards of stone, over the springgreen grass and pastures with sheeps and newborn lambs, horses and foals. In nearby village Kirkjubaejarklaustur there has been no daylight for nearly two days now.
Amazing as it is from far away, it must be hellish on site.

At least it is not the real rapture... maybe just feels like it on Iceland. :)
PS. There must have been stories about volcanism in the Edda and other Icelandic viking sagas... how did they explain it? The wrath of the Gods?
