Unfair!

This is the map of snowdepth in Sweden right now. It´s unfair we have only ½ a centimeter snow in Södertälje! I rather have real winter, than this, non -winter weather we have. Coastal climate... But more than anything else I long for spring! Can somebody post spring pictures for me please?

Swedish saying; untranslatable; Hellre gå på is och ha det glatt, än att gå i lera och sörja!

EH your right it is not translatable, this is what an online translator came up with:

Rather gå på ice and cheerio slippery än that gå in clay and sörja!

OK: word by word it´s rather go on ice and slip than go in clay and mud.

The untranslatable thing is this: in swedish the word slip also means happy and the word mud means mourn. So you kan go on ice and be happy or go in clay and mourn.

We have only mud here! But I am pretty happy anyway. OK, spring photos, I will dig some up.

funny that thought is really not un-translatable, the sentiment is perfectly understood and the double meanings make it even better.

OK PP. I will always try to translate, but some things just feels like it only makes sense in Swedish. I suppose that is not the case most of the times.

But it´s still unfair, we have winter but no snow. It´s just dark and cold.
