Some pictures from the kayak excursion today to Marvikarna, Åkers styckebruk, Sweden. About 5-8 degrees C in the air, (water temperature unknown). At first a light rain and later during the day some sun occasionally. Strange find was the Anemona nemorosa in bloom. Usually flowers in May, not October! Lunch break with a view and an open fire in IKEAs bestickställ, alias "vedköket", for the hot tea water.
Oh, so beautiful! I especially like the photo of the raindrops... I can just smell the mossy rocks, the fallen leaves, and hear the slippery sound of the paddles in the water.
ReplyDeleteAnd I spent the day (which was full of sunshine) fighting woodpeckers that destroy our house and sitting inside finishing a book chapter that was due over a month ago. But now that is in.

ha - no. It is illegal to shoot or catch woodpeckers here. You scare them off by hanging giant foil streamers that move in the wind, and a giant yellow balloon with big eyes that also move in the wind. You fill in their holes in the house (they actually crawled INTO the house wall) with 'Great Stuff' which is really great stuff - insulation in a spray can. And then you make some hawk silhouttes, paint them black, and hang that in front of window. Hopefully all that will scare them off for a few months. I think we only have one crazy wood pecker... it is a stupid bird, he doesn't realize he shouldn't be a house pecker...
